Network Specialist - NOC Systems Engineer, Senior - Key Position

F-35 JOINT STRIKE FIGHTER PROGRAM, ARLINGTON, VA (CRYSTAL CITY)

Position Description:

  • Provides assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations.
  • Provides input to policy level discussions regarding standards and budget constraints.
  • Supervises all personnel engaged in the operation and support of network facilities, including all communications equipment on various platforms in large scale or multi-shift operations.
  • Supervises complex operations that involve two or more additional functions such as, but not limited to, network operations, systems security, systems software support, and production support activities.
  • Monitors and responds to hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals).
  • Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
  • Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network.

Minimum Education Required:

  • For SENIOR position: MS/MA in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or related IT discipline. ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: Six (6) years of relevant Cyber Security experience with an BA/BS can be substituted for a MA/MS degree
  • For JOURNEYMAN position: BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or related IT discipline

Minimum Experience Required:

Ten (10) years of practical analysis experience in network design, administration, operations, procedures, and troubleshooting; and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
 
  • Four (4) years of experience installing related equipment.
  • One (1) year of experience designing, preparing, and modifying engineering documents and drawings.
  • Four (4) years of experience in "Specific Projects" discipline, of which 2 must have been performed within the last 3 years. Experience may be concurrent.
  • Certification in at least one the following:
  • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT). Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator.
  • Windows 2007 +
  • Exchange 2007+
  • Current CCNA or CCDA certification
  • Cisco Unified Communication Manager configuration and infrastructure a plus Windows Server 2003 & 2008; Exchange and/or SQL.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) 2003 or latest equivalent Microsoft certification.
IAT Level III baseline certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program

Security Clearance: Department of Defense Secret clearance based upon a SSBI or SSBI-PR completed within the past five years.
